[Performance and Real-World Range](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#performance-and-real-world-range) # What are “ride modes” on the RM1 and how do they work? The RM1 has three modes, which help you optimise your ride between speed and range according to your journey type. They’re also useful for helping you stick to the speed limit. You can easily toggle between these ride modes while riding. For an explanation of exactly how to do this, please consult the [Owner’s Handbook](https://maeving.com/pages/owners-handbook?hsLang=en). - Ride Mode 1 (Speed Mode) – allows you to ride at the bike’s maximum speed of 45 mph, but this comes at the expense of range. - Ride Mode 2 (Balanced Mode) – limits the maximum speed to 28 mph to maintain an optimal balance between speed and range. - Ride Mode 3 (Range Mode) – limits the maximum speed to 20 mph to maximise the range of your battery/batteries. - [About Maeving](https://help.maeving.com/en/about-maeving?hsLang=en) - [General Bike Information](https://help.maeving.com/en/general-bike-information?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Performance and Efficiency](https://help.maeving.com/en/general-bike-information?hsLang=en#performance-and-efficiency) - [Bike Customisation and Adjustments](https://help.maeving.com/en/general-bike-information?hsLang=en#bike-customisation-and-adjustments) - [Design and Features](https://help.maeving.com/en/general-bike-information?hsLang=en#design-and-features) - [Legal Requirements](https://help.maeving.com/en/general-bike-information?hsLang=en#legal-requirements) - [Licencing](https://help.maeving.com/en/licencing?hsLang=en) - [RM1](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Design and Specifications](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#design-and-specifications) - [Battery and Charging](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#battery-and-charging) - [Performance and Real-World Range](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#performance-and-real-world-range) - [Licencing](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#licencing) - [Placing An Order](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#placing-an-order) - [Storage](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1?hsLang=en#storage) - [RM1S](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Design and Specifications](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#design-and-specifications) - [Battery and Charging](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#battery-and-charging) - [Performance and Real-World Riding](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#performance-and-real-world-riding) - [Licencing](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#licencing) - [Placing An Order](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#placing-an-order) - [Storage](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm1s?hsLang=en#storage) - [RM2](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Design and Specifications](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#design-and-specifications) - [Battery and Charging](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#battery-and-charging) - [Performance and Rear-World Riding](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#performance-and-rear-world-riding) - [Licensing](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#licensing) - [Placing An Order](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#placing-an-order) - [Storage](https://help.maeving.com/en/rm2?hsLang=en#storage) - [Test Rides](https://help.maeving.com/en/test-rides?hsLang=en) - [Placing an order](https://help.maeving.com/en/placing-an-order?hsLang=en) - [Accessories](https://help.maeving.com/en/accessories?hsLang=en) - [Delivery](https://help.maeving.com/en/delivery?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Shipping Policy](https://help.maeving.com/en/delivery?hsLang=en#shipping-policy) - [Servicing](https://help.maeving.com/en/servicing?hsLang=en) - [Battery](https://help.maeving.com/en/battery?hsLang=en#main-content) - [Maeving Battery](https://help.maeving.com/en/battery?hsLang=en#maeving-battery) - [12V Battery](https://help.maeving.com/en/battery?hsLang=en#12v-battery) - [Warranty](https://help.maeving.com/en/warranty?hsLang=en) - [Owner's area](https://help.maeving.com/en/owners-area?hsLang=en#main-content) - [General Care](https://help.maeving.com/en/owners-area?hsLang=en#general-care) - [Parts Exchange](https://help.maeving.com/en/parts-exchange?hsLang=en) - [Returns & Refunds](https://help.maeving.com/en/returns-refunds?hsLang=en) [![Chill listening crop-3](https://help.maeving.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Logos/Maeving%20Logo%20Larger%20210922-White%20BG%20copy.jpg?width=24&height=24&name=Maeving%20Logo%20Larger%20210922-White%20BG%20copy.jpg "Chill listening crop-3")](https://www.maeving.com) Copyright © 2025, Maeving Ltd
