Whenever you plan on storing or not riding your motorbike for more than 30 days, it’s recommended that you do the following:
- Before storage, charge the battery/batteries to between approximately 65% and 75% state of charge (SoC). A battery will discharge extremely slowly over time, but check the SoC at least monthly and if it has dropped below 30%, charge it back up to between approximately 65% and 75%.
- If the bike is stored outside, remove the batteries from the motorbike and store at an ambient temperature of between 20°C and 35°C (68°F and 95°F). This is to avoid temperature fluctuations and to reduce the total loss value if the bike is stolen.
- When taking the battery out of storage, charge it up to 100% before use to ensure optimal cell balance is restored. Because the battery has not been in use, this first charge will take longer than usual, but not more than 4-5 hours
